The Return of the Utility Underwear

TBô’s Utility Underwear is coming back better than ever before, thanks to the feedback of the co-creation community.

This month marks the return of the most unique addition to the TBô menswear line: The Utility Underwear!

The story of the Utility Underwear is exciting because of its unique concept: a style of trunk that offered features never before seen in men’s underwear. Oftentimes underwear is designed with comfort or style in mind. How often do you buy underwear that’s actually useful?

We envisioned utility-focused underwear that offered maximum support, comfort, and snugness whether you’re on a run, out to a party, or traveling abroad. In addition, the Utility Underwear needed to function like Batman’s utility belt: whenever you needed a free hand, or a place to store your valuables, these briefs would be there for you.

Bringing the Utility Underwear to Life

There was a lot of energy around exploring this rarely-visited design space. The original Utility Underwear featured designs that would let you store your keys and your phone! We also wanted to incorporate a waistband and inseam that wouldn’t budge through a lot of movement, and provided the same signature support and comfort that TBô is known for.

It was important to understand, however, that these ideas would be for nothing if our co-creation community—the Tribe—didn’t see a need or want for this style of men’s underwear. So, we shared the idea on our community platform and asked longtime customers for their thoughts on the concept of the Utility Underwear.

Great news: the Tribe loved the idea of the Utility Underwear! In addition to sharing our enthusiasm for the design, they provided a wealth of ideas and feedback on everything from the features we wanted to incorporate, to the preferred width of the waistband that would allow for maximum comfort while including the underwear’s utility features.

Tribe members out in the world came back with valuable feedback for the Utility Underwear: more security and storage space for your valuables! Without further ado, let’s check out the new and improved Utility Underwear.

The Utility Underwear’s Features

The first main feature of the Utility Underwear is a comfortable waistband that comes with secure loops to hang your keys. Second, the waistband features an inner flap pocket for storing your cards and keys. Lastly, the Utility Underwear boasts a secret side pocket for carrying your phone! Packing these features into the Utility Underwear ensures that your hands are free wherever you go, and offers a place to keep your valuables safe no matter what you’re doing.

The Utility Underwear now comes in a signature military green color, also voted on by the Tribe. This striking choice was the most popular amongst several other color options. And of course, the Utility Underwear is made from the signature bamboo viscose fabric used in the TBô menswear line. The breathability, feel, and antibacterial properties in bamboo underwear perfectly suits the goal of creating a reliable and handy set of briefs for even the most hectic of days.
